Happy Saturday everybody! Fisi recently asked if anyone had a review of the Victoria’s Secret fragrance mists, so I thought I’d share a quick review of the mists I received for my birthday! My wonderful hubby picked up six scents for me: Amber Romance, Aqua Kiss, Endless Love, Pure Seduction, Secret Charm, and Vanilla Lace.

The product: Victoria’s Secret fragrance mist, $12/8.4 oz. at Victoria’s Secret stores or through their website. 26 different scents available.

The claim: Refreshing formula is infused with conditioning aloe vera and calming chamomile. Spray on for a touch of scent.

Ingredients: (from the back of “Endless Love”) Alcohol Denat., water, fragrance, propylene glycol, glycerin, butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane, ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, PPG-25-Buteth-26, Ethylhexyl Salicylate, PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil, chamomilla recutita flower extract, aloe barbadensis leaf extract, amyl cinnamal, benzyl alcohol, benzyl salicylate, butylphenyl methylporopional, citral, citronellol, limonene, geraniol, hexyl cinnamal, hydroxycitronellal, hydroxyisohexyl 3-cyclohexene carboxaldehyde, linalool, blue 1, red 33, ext. violet 2.

Ingredient notes: I’m not even going to try to go into a long explanation of the ingredients panel; long story short, like most mainstream fragrance mists, this is packed with potential irritants, harsh chemicals, and dyes. It’s stuff that most of use anyway without thinking, but I just like to point out that if you’re trying to stick to very “green” cosmetics or if you have allergies, these are not the sprays for you. That said, Victoria’s Secret does not test their products on animals and these sprays are made in the USA.

I tried them: The packaging looks nice sitting on a dresser (better than your average plastic mist bottle) and I feel like these bottles are perfectly sized: not so small that you use them up too quickly but not so big that you’ll be using the same scent for a year. They do smell a bit strongly of alcohol for the first few seconds after spritzing but I don’t really notice unless I put my nose right to my skin; after that the alcohol fades and the scent emerges.

All of the six fragrances I have here can be spritzed on (2-3 pumps on pulse points) for a lighter scent or applied more heavily if you want other people to notice the scent. I typically use several spritzes all over and a couple more on my arms and neck before work, and the smell is still lingering on at lunch time. If you like a stronger perfume smell you’ll probably want to spritz a little more on every couple of hours. Obviously, layering them over a similar body lotion will help the scent last longer.

  • Amber Romance (amber & cream anglaise) is very close to Bath & Body Works Sensual Amber; it’s warm and rich, slightly more musky than spicy, and would be great for evenings or for autumn/winter wear. I would probably not wear this one to work, but for a date night instead.
  • Aqua Kiss (sun-kissed freesia and daisy) is very light and fresh, a bit like a wildflower bouqet. This is one of my favorites and is definitely a spring/summer fragrance. Since it has a “cool” scent, it’s a nice one to spritz on in the heat of the day if you’ve been sweating a bit and are starting to need a fragrance refresher!
  • Endless Love (apple blossom & ylang ylang) is slightly sweeter than most ylang ylang fragrances but not as sugary some of the other Victoria’s Secret florals; I find it relaxing, personally. This would work for day or night, depending on how intensely you apply it.
  • Pure Seduction (red plum & freesia) is a very strong, romantic floral; it makes me think of a summer evening dinner date on the outdoor patio at a really nice Italian (or your fave) restaurant. I don’t think I would wear this one to work, personally. I have gotten compliments on this one!
  • Secret Charm (honeysuckle & jasmine) has seen the most use thus far. This is another relaxing, sweet, light floral that can be worn day or night, depending on how much you spritz on.
  • Vanilla Lace (vanilla & musk) is a very sweet vanilla with a touch of musk. It’s more of a cupcake vanilla scent that I would normally pick out for myself but it’s growing on me–it is very sweet and fun and would be good for a true “girly girl”.

My final thoughts: I really like these! I feel like they’re much nicer than your standard fragrance mist and the scents are fairly lasting without being so strong that they curl your nose, so they’re good for the workplace or any other time when you want to smell nice without wearing a “cloud” of fragrance. Plus, Victoria’s Secret currently has them on special–5 for $30–which makes them half price. So, you know, you’re getting a better value if you do a small haul… :D

  1. I pretty much like to reek of perfume so I don’t do mists, but if you know your perfume has a vanilla base and you spray it over the Vanilla Lace lotion – omg!

    • LOL I know a lot of people with allergies so I try to tone it down. But yes, layering vanilla–it’s like living in a cupcake!! Which makes me sooooo hungry… :D

  2. I just hauled a few scents from VS. I gotta say I get so overwhelmed by their selection. My head started to spin after sniffing a few, which confused my nose even more. Generally, I prefer eau de parfum because I like to smell my own perfume throughout the day without having to reapply, lol, but since we’ve been asked not to wear strong scents to work, I’ve been shopping for body sprays. I definitely agree that the VS body mist look and smell nicer than the average drugstore body mist.

  3. The scents sound pretty good! I am not sure if I would buy them because of the ingredients but I do like that they don’t test on animals.

    • I do like that they’re not tested on animals. But I think I’d like to start looking at more natural perfumes. Pacifica has some that look really nice, I think you can find some of their products at Target and then a bunch more online.

  4. Ohh my gosh can’t wait to get my mitts on some of these now! :) Thanks for posting this lovely, really enjoyed reading it. Secret Charm sounds amazing as does Aqua Kiss. The packaging looks really lovely as well xxx

  5. pure seduction fragrance spray – loved the scent, but got a really horrible rash (understated)
heading to the doctor as i am typing.
generally not allergic to may things but this one not good!!

  6. You are the BEST! I live in a country where we don’t have a VS store, so I have to order online. Only thing is, I haven’t actually been able to smell most of these, only been told by people how much they love them. I’ve been searching all over the internet for some sort of a simple, go-to guide on the different scents (the VS page isn’t that helpful either) and yours was the only one I’ve been able to find with a side by side description. Thank you so much!!

  7. Recently I bought VS’s love spell, amber romance, pure seduction in a gift set for my gf. Another one is VS’s Victoria body mist and Sheer love lotion. I didnt receive yet. What do you think it will be great??? Um getting tensed by seeing one’s comment who gt rash in skin.

    • I think she’ll love Amber Romance :) and I think as long as she’s typically okay with body mists, she should be fine. I would only be concerned if she had very sensitive skin and had experienced a reaction to a body mist in the past.

  8. I like their packaging but I have yet to find a VS scent that I really like. I rarely wear fragrance nowadays. People at work are always whining bout other people’s perfume.

  9. I am buying a VS body mist for my best friend but since I am ordering it online, I have no idea how it smells!
It’s a part of her 17th birthday present and I would really love it if you could help me out. I want it to be something that is floral and fruity but doesn’t hurt the nose and is just a great scent. What would you suggest?

    • I think she’d like Endless Love. That’s the most floral/fruity one I’ve tried so far from VS and it doesn’t overpower your senses :)

  10. I can only get one but am not sure weather to go for Aqua Kiss, Pure Seduction or Secret Charm. I am looking to impress a guy at school and I am not a big musky fan. Really don’t know which to get!!!!! Which do you think would be best? Thanks in advance

  11. Where I live we don’t have a VS store so I have to buy online and it’s hard to know which one to get, I saw on the website there’s an offer and I’ve picked two already (love spell and pure seduction), I’ve smelt them already and loved them but I don’t know which to pick for my third. Any recomendations? I don’t want it to be to over powering but I like it to be kinda fruity.

    • Endless Love is probably the most fruity one I’ve tried, but it’s not too overpowering–you can spray on a little or a lot. :)

  12. Looking for a new vs pray to ask for for Christmas . Have endless love already and love it, used to like love spell however people over spraying a r school now makes me get a headache when it’s sprayed. Any ideas which one of these I should get ? Thanks x

  13. I love the smell of coconut passion but omg I did I suffer a bad allergic reaction with a rash on my neck, my arms and started to I itch everywhere , I wanted to itch my skin off, I couldn’t sleep at night because I felt soo uncomfortable, went to the chemist to get creams and tablets anything to help,if you’ve got sensitive skin do not go near it,even a work colleague of mine was using a different smell suffered the same symptoms

    • Hi Zairina, at one time VS marketed quite a few animal-friendly beauty products. However as the company has evolved over the years and entered some overseas beauty markets they have begun testing on animals in order to comply with laws in other countries. Therefore they are no longer considered cruelty-free. I hope that helps!
