Thought Questions, day 108: If your life was a novel, what would be the title and how would your story end?

I got these questions from Danielle’s blog Underland to Wonderland, where I came across a post in which she talked about the website Thought Questions and their 365 thought-provoking questions to ask yourself. My friends Katrin, Celeste and Jasmine have also been answering these questions, so be sure to go check out their blogs too!

Day 108: If your life was a novel, what would be the title and how would your story end? This is a hard one! The title would probably be something like I’d Rather Be Reading. I could talk about all the public events I was compelled to attend when I could have been curled up at home with a book. Like all fairy tales, there would have to be a conflict–we must get her out of the house!–and a charming guy, who would be just fine with me reading all night instead of attending a ball. And we live happily ever after.

Thought Questions, day 107: Who or what do you think of when you think of love?

Day 107: Who or what do you think of when you think of love? For some reason I think of the way my husband has a cup of coffee waiting for me when I get out of bed each day. He’s never been a coffee drinker and when we started dating he didn’t even like the smell of it, but he insisted on learning how to fix it just the way I like it so he can make it for me in the AM, since he knows I can’t function without it! To me it’s those little gestures that really say “I love you” more so than flowers or fancy dinner dates.

Thought Questions, day 106: What does it mean to allow another person to truly love you?

I got these questions from Danielle’s blog Underland to Wonderland, where I came across a post in which she talked about the website Thought Questions and their 365 thought-provoking questions to ask yourself. My friends Katrin, Celeste and Jasmine have also been answering these questions, so be sure to go check out their blogs too!

Day 106: What does it mean to allow another person to truly love you? To trust them completely, so you can open up and share any of your secrets, fears and dreams with them without fear that they’ll laugh at you or reject you in some way. I think it can be really hard to open up to another person that way, more so than anything else you might do in life.

A cute (and easy) hairdo for the braid-challenged

I’m braid-challenged. I admit it. But I love the look of braids, and they’re so perfect for hot days when you just can’t be bothered to style your hair, which is why I love the look of this ponytail/braid combo on Blake Lively.

It starts with a slicked-back pony–perfect for hiding flat roots, grown-out layers, and a host of other hair issues. After the ponytail it turns into a rough, messy braid. It looks like her stylist teased her hair (and possibly added some dry shampoo for grip and body), then wove differently-sized sections of hair into a loose braid. You could tug on sections and/or rough up the tail a little more with a brush to make the braid even bigger and messier.

Here’s another view of it from the back:

Cute, right? And simple enough for even the clumsy-thumbsys among us to do. Just add some statement earrings and you’re ready to go. (Blake wore this look at Cannes, so you know it’s good to go for evening events, too!)
