I know I’m a little late posting this, but I had to share my October 2016 Birchbox! Birchbox is definitely one of those services that has good and bad months, but this month I felt like they really delivered a great box! All of the samples were cruelty-free (yeah!) and there was only one item that got a “meh” from me. Read on for details on my box!

October 2016 Birchbox: so many cruelty-free goodies, from brands like Tata Harper, Oribe and Hustle Butter!

I wasn’t sure if Oribe was cruelty-free until I looked them up, but apparently their products are vegan-friendly! (Now, to learn how to pronounce their name…) I can’t imagine paying $44 for the full size can of this Gold Lust Dry Shampoo, but I am curious to try it. And see how the other half, y’know, shampoos.

I’ve finally jumped on the eye cream bandwagon this year thanks to getting some great eye cream samples from Birchbox this winter and spring. This sample of Air Repair Super-Hydrating Eye Cream (full size, $23) will be great to use this winter, since my skin always gets super dry when cold weather hits. Also, this product is Leaping Bunny approved!

The only item I really wasn’t feeling was the LOC Vibrant Matte Lipstick (in shade First Kiss; full size, $8). I am a big fan of these mattte pinky-nudes to balance dramatic eye makeup, but I didn’t like the formula on this one. It had an almost slippery texture that slid off my lips way too fast and made the color look uneven. A shame, because it was such a pretty shade!

I was really excited to see the Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask (full size, $58) because I’ve heard raves about this natural, Leaping Bunny-certified company for years, but I obviously don’t have the budget for her products. I think this will be a good sample to pair up with a hot bath, a magazine, and a glass of wine on a night off for a little pampering.

Last but definitely not least is a little tub of Hustle Butter Luxe (full size, $25). I wasn’t really sure what “Hustle Butter” was until I Googled the company and discovered it’s nothing less than a line of natural, vegan, tattoo artist-approved products for aftercare and general skin care. Why is this such a big deal, you may ask? Well, because it’s actually kind of hard to find good tattoo aftercare products that aren’t full of animal ingredients. I’m excited to see a company addressing this specific need and plan to save this little jar for my next piece of ink!

So there’s my October 2016 Birchbox! What did you think of my samples? Want to try Birchbox for yourself? (I’d love it if you signed up with my link!) It’s just $10 a month and you earn points for every sample you review, redeemable in the Birchbox shop toward full-sized products—so if you’re crazy about trying new things, it’s a great way to sample without commitment and earn some $$$ towards the products you really love! (I’ve used my points for luxe haircare from No. 4 and Beauty Protector!)
