(Disclosure: this post was created in collaboration with Good Cubed.)
We’ve gotten past the halfway mark of this week and I am so excited! Do you guys have any big pre-Thanksgiving plans? I’m going to be shopping for meal ingredients so I can put together a veg-friendly feast.
In the meantime, I’ve had the chance to check out a new website that I wanted to share with you guys! Good Cubed was founded with the goal of taking clean, luxurious, animal-friendly beauty out of the niche market and into the mainstream. The site features a range of high-end beauty brands like Ecco Bella, Kaia Naturals, and Vapour Organic Beauty.
Shoppers don’t have to worry about weeding through the product list to sort out brands that may allow third-party animal testing or be owned by a parent company that still tests. The site also makes it easy to filter for items that are vegan, Fair Trade Certified, gluten-free, etc. depending on your preference. Finally, Good Cubed donates 1% of every purchase to Beagle Freedom Project, which rescues lab animals and helps to rehome them as pets. They also have a cool rewards program so you can earn points toward discounts and free shipping on your purchases!
The folks at Good Cubed were kind enough to send me a Mandarin Orange Coffee Scrub from Beverly to 5th to test out. Guys, I’m not exaggerating when I say I’m a huuuuuuge hoarder of body products. Body wash, scrubs, body butter, fragrance, I love ’em all. Because I’ve tested so many (either for the blog or just, you know, because #retailtherapy), I’m also super judgy about what I use. I mean, I’ve tried everything from high end to low, all scents and formulas, a hundred different promises on the packaging.
So you know that if I say I loved this coffee scrub, it isn’t an idle comparison! It not only left my skin feeling super smooth, it also left it incredibly soft and moisturized. I’ve used a lot of scrubs that went one way or the other; either they leave your skin feeling incredibly exfoliated but also a little dry, or they skimp on exfoliating in order to save moisture. This one is the perfect in-between! It left my skin incredibly soft and smooth, but also super moisturized and silky. Adding body butter on top was just a bonus. My skin hasn’t felt this nice in a long time! It was like a super-luxe spa treatment right in the shower.
This coffee scrub has a very strong ground coffee smell with hints of orange underneath. It makes me think of a fancy flavored espresso. It’s a dry scrub, with the texture of a handful of coffee grounds, as opposed to some scrubs that have a more liquid consistency. This can make it a little messy for use, but I find that if you just use a small handful at a time it’s much less so. The smell lingers on a bit after use so if you pair this with a citrus-scented body lotion you’ll smell extra yummy! It doesnt’t take very much scrub for a single use so I see this bag lasting me quite a while, even if I use it a couple of times each week.
This is definitely a new favorite body product! I was so happy with the results and it was such a nice treat in the middle of a busy week.
