[CLOSED] INTERNATIONAL GIVEAWAY: Wet n Wild limited edition SS13 eyeshadow palette (3 winners!)–open thru 5/15

A little back story for you: all spring I’ve been seeing beauty bloggers post about the limited edition Wet n Wild eye shadow palettes that hit stores for spring/summer 2013. There were two palettes launched: Nude Awakening, which was supposedly a dupe palette for the Urban Decay Naked shadows; and Going in the Wild, a shimmery mix of nudes and pastels.

Apparently the palettes sold out like crazy and lots of bloggers reported being unable to get their hands on one. I looked for them for a while but finally just shrugged and figured they weren’t going to surface near me.

Well…earlier this week the hubby and I stopped into Fred Meyer while running errands, and of course I HAD to check out the beauty department. This store has one of the best beauty departments in town, with lots of brands I love and can actually purchase (cruelty-free), plus they have tons of awesome special displays with bonus items, new collections, and coupons.

So, lo and behold–they had a small shelf display with four of these Wet n Wild palettes left! Sadly, there were no Nude Awakening palettes left, but the colors in Going in the Wild are so gorgeous, I think that’s okay.

So, now that the boring back story is out of the way:I’m giving away THREE of these palettes. Yep, three–and the giveaway is international, so for those of you who have trouble finding Wet n Wild products period because you live outside the U.S., you’re included too! Please read the terms and conditions on the Rafflecopter before entering. The giveaway will close on May 15th and I’ll be notifying the winners on the 17th. Good luck!

[CLOSED] Album review + GIVEAWAY: Rebecca Roubion ‘Forests’ EP

(Disclaimer: I was provided a link to the album in order to review. The digital copy of the giveaway album will be e-mailed directly to the winner by the PR company. I was not compensated in any way for this review and all opinions are my own.)

Rebecca Roubion is one of those artists who is typically labeled as indie-pop, but her folk, soul and jazz influences make her music something a little more than your typical lightweight pop album. If you’re not yet familiar with her, you need to be: for fans of similar artists like Sara Bareilles and Norah Jones, Rebecca is the next big thing.

The Nashville, Tennessee-based songbird seamlessly fuses smooth piano ballads with a soulful, syrupy voice reminiscent of fellow Dixieland singers like Eva Cassidy. After successfully launching her debut EP Fields in the fall of 2012 via Kickstarter, Roubion returns this spring with the twin EP Forests.

Forests picks up where Fields left off, with Roubion switching easily between the understated arrangements of ‘Cripple Me’ and the peppier piano pop of ‘Not Sure Yet’. This is the sort of album you put on for brunch with friends or for an evening of relaxing, turning off the phone and curling up with a cup of tea and a stack of magazines!

Rebecca recently released this video for her single ‘Love Me Now’, which expertly captures Rebecca’s creative soul and all of the whimsical, giddy emotion of falling in love. Take a listen and just try not to picture this as the theme to a romantic comedy starring Rachel McAdams or Zooey Deschanel!

Okay, now on to the giveaway! Starboard Music Group is generously offering one lucky reader a digital copy of Rebecca’s new EP Forests when it releases on May 7. Use the Rafflecopter widget below to enter, and remember: you can earn bonus entries every day by Tweeting about the giveaway, and one larger entry by sharing the video for ‘Love Me Now’! The giveaway is open through May 3rd. Good luck!

[CLOSED] Accessory Friday: Glam cocktail ring + GIVEAWAY!

I can’t pass up a good fashion deal, especially for something gorgeous and trendy like this cocktail ring! So for this edition of Accessory Friday, I bring you easily one of the chicest and cheapest pieces of jewelry I’ve bought all year.

I found this at Wal-mart for $5! Can you believe that? It’s got a peacock blue faux gemstone covered in black lace. The band is stretchy/adjustable but it seems kind of small–it fits perfectly on my ring finger, and my wedding band is only a size 5 (I think–I don’t really remember!).

It’s so gorgeous and glam, and I know I’ll get tons of wear out of it with the holiday season fast approaching. Which made me think…

…why not buy TWO and give one away to a lucky blog reader? :)

Yep! I’m going to give away one of these rings; all you have to do to enter is use the Rafflecopter form below. Like my blog via GFC and answer the question, then sit back and wait for me to announce the winner!

Product review: Bath and Body Works Cashmere Glow shower gel and body lotion

It’s no secret to anyone who knows me that I’m in love with Bath and Body Works. I think their products are to die for and I’m always super-excited when they come out with a new scent for a new season. So, without further ado, let’s jump right into my review of their latest fall fragrance, Cashmere Glow!

Product: Bath and Body Works Cashmere Glow shower gel ($11/10 oz.) and body lotion ($11/8 oz.)

Claim: “Every girl deserves cashmere!…an enticing blend of shimmering vanilla and golden peach wrapped in soft cashmere musk.”

I tried it: First, the shower gel. A little goes a long way with BBW shower gels and when you pour this on a shower pouf, you get a really luscious lather. The Shea-enriched formula won’t dry out your skin and in fact I feel like this leaves my skin softer.

The fragrance is present but not overly strong in the shower, so I was very pleasantly surprised to find that I could still smell the fragrance on my skin after toweling off. Normally I find that scented body washes/shower gels smell great while you’re using them, but don’t linger on once you’ve stepped out of the shower, so this is a major plus in my book.

Next, the lotion. BBW lotions are super-silky and hydrating and an absolute joy to use. I sometimes have trouble with fragranced products irritating my skin, but I’ve never had an issue with BBW. Ingredients like vitamin E, jojoba, and shea butter make this a great pick for dry winter skin, but the formula never feels heavy.

Layering this lotion with the shower gel really made the scent last for a long time. It’s a warm blend of vanilla, peaches, and cashmere musk, which makes for a very cuddly fragrance; this smells like something you’d wear while snuggling under a blanket with hot tea and a good book. It reminds me of sweaters, fall, and all things cozy. If I were to put this in a scent “family” I’d say it leans toward being a sexy scent, since the musk gives it a rather sensual undertone; but it isn’t so overly sexy that you would only wear it on a date night.

The thing that I really love about this scent is that it isn’t so strong that it knocks you over when you open the bottle. If you typically love fruity notes for spring/summer and want something a little deeper for fall and winter, this is a good pick that doesn’t smell too heavy. And if you love musks but want something just a teensy bit lighter, then this is a great pick as well.

My vote: A winner! My list of Holy Grail BBW products just got a bit longer with the addition of this scent.

I love this scent so much, I’m giving away a shower gel and body lotion as my 100 followers Twitter giveaway. I’m drawing a winner on October 15, so hurry and enter here!

[CLOSED] Twitter giveaway contest! Bath and Body Works Cashmere Glow shower gel and body lotion

I’ve reached the 100 follower mark on Twitter! I know to any of you who have hundreds (or, gasp, thousands!) of followers, that might seem like a small number. But it’s a big number to me, and to thank everyone for following along, I decided to host a small giveaway contest.

I’m going to give one lucky winner a full-size Bath and Body Works shower gel and body lotion in their newest fall fragrance, Cashmere Glow.  The contest ends on October 14, so you have a little less than a week to enter.

Entering is simple: you don’t have to follow me (though I’d love it if you did!). Just head over to my Twitter page to find all of the giveaway details and the full contest rules, then re-tweet the contest announcement and tweet me your best idea for creating a new fall fragrance. I want to know: what would inspire it, what would you call it, and what would it smell like?

The contest is open to international readers 18 and older; you just need a valid Twitter account to enter. Please remember that you must RT and tweet me your fragrance idea to enter. RTing alone or tweeting alone are not considered valid entries.

Good luck!
