Belated Totally Doable I Have A Life April Nail Art Challenge: Day 25: Gold/silver

For some reason I thought we didn’t have to do the gold/silver nails until today. Oops! Better late than never, I suppose.
I wanted to show off the gold shimmer in this peachy polish with a gold design on top, but I’m not sure it turned out quite the way it looked in my mind. I think there wasn’t enough contrast between the two polishes to really make the design stand out. Anyway, it was fun to try something different!

Totally Doable I Have A Life April Nail Art Challenge: Day 19: Mint

Are you guys tired of seeing this color yet? I know I’ve been wearing it a lot lately! To perk up a minty swatch of Flower Beauty Thistle or That?, I added accent nails in Julep Sasha, my favorite spring coral.
Can you believe the crazy amount of shine on my nails? I’m using my new Julep Freddom Polymer top coat and loving it! It really does make nails look like they’ve got a gel topcoat; the shine is outrageous and it protects them from dings and chips, so I know my manicure will stay looking fresh for my movie date with girlfriends tomorrow, even if I do tear my hands up at work tonight.

Totally Doable I Have A Life April Nail Art Challenge: Day 16: Match OOTD

Today’s nail was supposed to match the outfit of the day. I initially thought of striped nails, but since I was already doubling up with a striped top and striped clutch, I felt like striped nails would just push the whole thing over the edge into bad matchy-matchy territory. Instead, I opted for a subtle grey polish to match the grey stripes in my shirt. This is Zoya Dove.

Belated post: Totally Doable I Have A Life April Nail Art Challenge: Day 13: Ombre

By yesterday afternoon I was much more interested in a nap than nail art, so I totally bombed on posting this on time. But I thought I would put up a belated post anyway so you can see what I did for day 13 of the challenge, which was supposed to be an “ombre” nail.

This is probably the messiest and laziest ombre ever! I used Zoya Marley and Flower Beauty Thistle or That? to create this mani. I’m really obsessed with these two shades right now!

Nail Polish of the Month April 2013; plus, Totally Doable I Have A Life April Nail Art Challenge: Day 10: Bright

I couldn’t think of a better “bright” for day 10 of this challenge than my bottle of Zoya Mitzi that I ordered this winter. It’s a matte velvet lacquer in a highlighter yellow shade.

Like all mattes, this dries super-quick: I am not lying when I say I did four coats in five minutes. The trouble with such a quick dry time is that it’s very hard to get a smooth, even application, without streaks or patchiness. Also, this shows every imperfection in my nails. So, I think it’s going to take some work to learn how to make this polish look as lovely as my other Zoyas.

That said, I do love the color, which is why I’m also naming it my Nail Polish of the Month for April 2013.

The Totally Doable I Have A Life April Nail Art Challenge: days 1 and 4

I’ve always loved those daily nail polish challenges that float around the blogosphere, but I’ve never had the time to join in on a daily basis…which was why when I saw this challenge over on Beauty by Arielle, I immediately wanted to join in. This was originally posted on Instagram by Beauty By Krystal, but since I’m not on Instagram I’ll just post my shots on Twitter!!

I’m a day late to the challenge so like Areille, I’m combining days one and four. Day 1 was “flowers” and Day 4 was “swatch”. I made little accent nail flowers using Flower Beauty Nail Lacquers in Gorgeous Gerbera and Thistle Or That? and Zoya nail polish in Marley.

The swatch is L.A. Colors Color Craze polish in Fiji Purple, which I picked up at a local dollar store. I have to admit, I’m not loving this polish. It was thin and runny, and it took forever to dry, even with reasonably thin coats; I smudged multiple nails on my fingers and toes and had to redo them. I’ve had other L.A. Colors polishes that haven’t given me this much trouble, but it was only $1, so que sera. Next time I’ll grab a Wet n Wild polish.
