I got these questions from Danielle’s blog Underland to Wonderland, where I came across a post in which she talked about the website Thought Questions and their 365 thought-provoking questions to ask yourself. My friends Katrin, Celeste and Jasmine have also been answering these questions, so be sure to go check out their blogs too!
Day 38: What’s something you know you do differently than most people?
Well…in one of my psych classes we took tests for change blindness. You know those “find the difference” games where you have two pictures side by side, and you have to pick out what’s different between the two? This was similar, except that they flashed the pictures in succession, one, two, one, two, one, two, very fast on the screen. There were little patches of “fuzz” or dots on some of the pictures too, as a distraction. You have to click on the different item when you find it, and once you’ve done a batch they give you the charts that show the average amount of time it takes a “normal” person to find the difference in each picture, compared to your results.
For most of the pictures it takes the average person somewhere between fifteen and twenty-five seconds, say, and I could spot the change in four to eight. So apparently I have a lower rate of change blindness, meaning I take in more visual information at once and am more sensitive to the small details. I’m never sure how well these tests work or what the results really say about my brain, but it’s fun experiment, in any case.

this is a great question and I love your response. I think that I organize differently than most people. I have a crazy method in my mind and I organize things at a lightening speed!

Being a master organizer is an awesome skill to have!
Katrin
Wow, you are definitely one impressive person! :)

Aw, thanks! I think it’s more weird than anything, considering I sometimes lose track of my car keys while they’re in my pocket :P

That is quite a talent you have there! I always think I do a lot of things differently, only to learn that I’m actually not the only one that does that. But I do think I eat biscuits and gravy a little differently because I can’t eat it without sauteed bell peppers on top. (And not just because of pregnancy! I’ve always liked it that way!). LOL It’s the little things I guess.

That actually sounds yummy–I like bell peppers! I’ve met people who can’t stand them though. :(
