I got these questions from Danielle’s blog Underland to Wonderland, where I came across a post in which she talked about the website Thought Questions and their 365 thought-provoking questions to ask yourself. My friends Katrin, Celeste and Jasmine have also been answering these questions, so be sure to go check out their blogs too!
Day 70: Can there be happiness without sadness? Pleasure without pain? Peace without war? I think that there can be, but we don’t appreciate it as much. Human beings are kind of selfish and we tend to have a very poor sense of our blessings unless we can compare them to something terrible, so without that contrast of war or poverty we wouldn’t be as happy, I think. It’s quite sad that we choose to view our lives through that lens!

I actually realised just this week that there definitely can for sure….because I can say from personal experience that you can feel love without hate :)

It’s such a good feeling to get to that place…

I guess the answer will depend on your interpretation. I would answer no because as human beings we have complex emotions. We think, feel, and cope differently even in the same situations. You need a good balance of pain and happiness in order to be able to relate and be compassionate toward others.
