Music Monday: Everlong (and a question)

I’ve been listening to lots of late nineties/early aughts rock on Spotify lately—think playlists of Soundgarden, Beck, Pearl Jam, The Foo Fighters, Rage Against the Machine, etc. It got me thinking: as these artists have moved into our memories as the icons of a bygone era (as hard as it is to believe, some of their hit songs are nearly twenty years old), have any artists emerged to take their place? I’m thinking of rock bands that became active in the late aughts or later, specifically, and have that same kind of enduring artistry that will make them instantly recognizable to the kids of the next generation who pull up “vintage” playlists on Spotify.

I’m racking my brain and am really having trouble thinking of anyone. I suppose there are some rock artists that I would consider, such as The Black Keys, The Arctic Monkeys, The National, and Highly Suspect; but it’s really too early to tell for some of these artists. I suppose only time will tell!

Do you have any artists to suggest? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
